Something for yourself…

When I first started making jewellery, I began by making bits for friends and family, as presents from me at Christmas or birthdays etc. And then I realised, what about me?

What about treating myself ? So, I started designing and making pieces that I wanted to wear and, although some very simple, I was thrilled with the end results and felt proud to wear my own creations. This design of a cupped disc pendant (above) was one of the first pieces I made for me to wear. I wanted a necklace I could wear everyday, that wasn’t too bold, heavy or overly obvious. I love keeping elements of jewellery brushed to contrast with the high polished sheen of other elements. I wear my one everyday and although very simple, I am proud of myself!

I really feel that it is really important to treat yourself and to take a moment to think about what would make you happy and put a smile on your face! I feel very lucky that I have the skills and tools available to me to make myself something beautiful to wear. BUT, sometimes it doesn’t need to be as glamorous as that! Sometimes - its just a cuppa tea, or a nice walk, or a nap!

Go and try it! Treat yourself, and enjoy it.
